About Jason Pflaum
When Jason Pflaum returned to his hometown of Minneapolis, he brought with him more than 15 years of experience working on Wall Street. He drew on that experience when he founded Plum Tree Advisors, a financial management strategy consulting firm serving clients in both established and emerging industries. Jason Pflaum continues to serve the firm as president and works with clients in several areas, including identifying new business opportunities, developing business plans, and overseeing product development.
Jason Pflaum earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where he also captained the school’s NCAA Division 1 baseball team. After he graduated and moved to New York City to pursue a career in the financial services industry, Pflaum earned a reputation for his thorough analyses of various market sectors, notably the consumer technology industry.
At merchant bank Thomas Weisel Partners, for example, where Jason Pflaum spent almost ten years, his hands-on approach to analysis, which included frequent site visits to technology component manufacturers in Asia, enabled him to identify emerging trends in the industry. While at technology-focused hedge fund BCM, LLC, where he helped manage some of the electronics supply chain sectors of the firm’s portfolio, Pflaum was responsible for a 75 percent net return on investment in those holdings.
When he is not studying the market or consulting with clients, Jason Pflaum spends most of his leisure time with his family participating in myriad seasonal Minnesota activities. He is also an avid supporter of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
