The Walker Art Center offers a range of exhibits and programs with a focus on contemporary visual, performing and media arts. Three of the center’s current exhibitions will be on display until the final months of 2016.
The Ordinary Pictures gallery features artwork from more than forty artists, all of whom use industrial or stock photography to create their pieces. An accumulation of works from as far back as the 1960s, the gallery incorporates pieces from movements such as pop art, film, and collage.
The Less Than One exhibit showcases the work of 16 artists whose work the center has collected. A recent acquisition from each artist is displayed beside a piece for which they are well known. The artworks are from multiple mediums, including painting, installation, and performance.
Last year was the Walker Art Center’s 75th anniversary. To honor the anniversary, the special exhibit Art of the Center highlights the changes and additions to the museum’s collections since the facility’s inception. Famous artists such as Franz Marc and Edward Hopper are among those on display.
